So today started out with a 1st for us as breeders! Merlot had her 5 puppies 4 days earlier that predicted or our math on delivery date was off. Not only that but she decided to whelp her 1st puppy in the snow this morning while out going to potty!!!! Susan was on top of things scooping the puppy out of the snow getting mom and puppy into the warm birthing room. All went well and after a bit of time Mickey was warm and cosy with mom in their litter box.
Today Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, Winnie and Minnie were born with only 1 minor challenge during the process. Merlot's color presided where Ruger's gender dominated in that they had 5 ruby cavalier puppies; first 4 male puppies with Minnie, the only female, waiting delivery until all the boys were out of the way. All are doing good as mom is tired and resting adjusting to her new role as mom and mentor. Their aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents and other relatives are just excited waiting until they too can welcome the puppies' arrival.
We will keep you posted as Victoria (Tori) and Ruger expect the arrival of their puppies on 3/2, if our calculations are right this time. We will be posting pictures along the way so those following us can take a peak at the new arrivals also.
